Red Stick Farmers Market for July 9, 2009
Red Stick Farmers Market in downtown Baton Rouge this Saturday continues its summer Fresh Fest with a celebration of the peach season. Throughout the morning market vendors will invite shoppers to take a chance on winning a basket of Louisiana produce and market items.
The farmers’ market is held each Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon on Fifth Street between Main and North streets.
In the Fresh From the Market cooking program, host chef Celeste Gill will welcome chef Scott Dardenne with Louis DeAngelo Restaurants who will demonstrate recipes using peaches. The pair will demonstrate dishes featuring Creole and other tomato varieties.
The demonstration begins at 10 a.m. Saturday in the North Street seating area inside the Main Street Market, which is in the Galvez Garage, also between Main and North streets with an entrance on Fifth Street.
The Bluegrass Jam will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Main Street Market in the North Street seating area.
On Saturdays, free parking is available for market shoppers in the Galvez Garage, which also serves as the Red Stick Farmers Market rain location.
The Mid-Week Markets operate from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Tuesday market is held in the parking lot of the Unitarian Church, 8470 Goodwood Blvd. near the entrance to Tara Boulevard, weather permitting. The Thursday market is held at 7248 Perkins Road in front of the Perkins Palm development, across from The Baton Rouge Clinic, between Essen Lane and Kenilworth Parkway.
