Dive into watermelon carving

Watermelon is so much more than sugar and water. It’s a nutrient-dense food that can be part of a healthy diet.

Watermelon is rich in lycopene, which is good for eyes. It’s low in sodium and an excellent source of vitamins A, B6 and C.

Most important in July, when the outdoor temperatures are registering in the 90s, is the fact that watermelon is a natural hydrator. Watermelon is 92 percent water. So, if you eat a bowl of watermelon chunks, you will be taking in a good amount of hydrating fluid.

But more than being a good-for-you food to eat, watermelon is “fun” food. If you don’t mind creating a little mess in your kitchen, watermelon carving is an entertaining way to spend a hot summer afternoon.
