Christmas in Walker

You’re invited to celebrate the season in Walker, where lights will shine and Santa will visit.
WHEN: Celebration begins Friday.
WHERE: Walker.
DETAILS: Punk Smith Park will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland with lights and animated displays. It will be open nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for walking tours. Santa Claus will make appearances for photographs on Dec. 12 and Dec. 19. Transportation will be available to and from Westside Junior High School. On Dec. 5, the Town of Walker hosts a Country Christmas celebration, which  begins at 1 p.m. with a parade. The day culminates with the lighting of the town’s 30-foot Christmas tree. Both The Walker Museum and the Community Art Gallery will be open that evening, featuring the exhibit “Families at Christmas,” a series of photographs of Walker families celebrating the holidays together.

Holiday Online Auction
Friends of Louisiana Public Broadcasting is hosting its first Holiday Online Auction. The answer to all your gift-giving dilemmas could be just a click away.

Trianon luncheon

This event, which benefits the Arc of Baton Rouge, is a great place to shop, visit and see wonderful holiday styles.
WHEN: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 3.
WHERE: Hilton Capitol Center, 201 Lafayette St.
TICKETS: $40. Call (225) 927-0855.
DETAILS: In addition to door prizes, the event includes a silent auction, raffle, tiles made by students from Arlington Preparatory School and wonderful baked goods and coffee punch from Trianon members. The fashion show will be by Gabrielle’s Bride & Occasion Salon.

Miss Cinderella pageant

The Miss Cinderella Project Fundraising Pageant will help continue the effort to provide free prom dresses to deserving young women. The pageant is open to girls statewide  ages 0 to 18.
WHEN: Dec. 6.
WHERE: Apply online to be a contestant at http://www.cinderellaprojectbr.org/ or at the door. Pageant will be at BREC’s Independence Park Theatre, 7800 Independence Blvd.
REGISTRATION: $45. Contestants can sell raffle tickets to help pay registration cost. To get raffle tickets to sell e-mail pageant@cinderellaprojectbr.org.
ADMISSION: To the pageant is $5 for adults; $1 for children 5 and younger.

DETAILS: Wear your “Sunday Best Attire” for this pageant, where more than $10,000 in prizes will be awarded to winners. A Samsung 46-inch flat-screen TV donated by
Valentino Home Entertainment will be raffled at the pageant. You do not need to be present to win. Tickets are $5 and available at the Web site.  Founded in 2008, The Cinderella Project of Baton Rouge is a volunteer organization that supports young adults statewide.
