POP QUIZ: Bob Breaux
Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.
QUIZ TAKER: Bob Breaux, “Age? In front of the baby boomers’ line, executive director of the West Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “Morning drive and most of the day I listen to classic jazz on WBRH and on the evening drive classic country. Rarely talk radio because I try to keep my blood pressure in check.”
WHAT I’M READING: “I enjoy reading; daily I read The Advocate and the BR Business Daily Report cover to cover. I also read INC and MyBusiness magazines. For relaxation I am currently reading ‘The Screwtape Letters’ by C.S. Lewis; just finished ‘The Shack’ by William Young and next up is ‘Cajuns — A People’s Story of Exile & Triumph’ by Dean Jobb (a good friend just gave this one to me). Then ‘Tamata Alliance’ by Bernard Moitessier, a ‘sailing around the world book.’ I also subscribe to several sailing magazines and love to read the adventurous stories of people cruising the world.”
WHAT I’M WATCHING: “I don’t watch much TV and hardly ever go to a movie. But I do enjoy the Home Improvement channel and ‘Law & Order’ and I still love to watch ‘M*A*S*H.’ On cold rainy weekends, my bride can talk me into watching a ‘chick flick’ with her.”
WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “I like to stay up with family and friends on FaceBook. Also, doing research and reading on various issues that I like to keep up with, normally business, health and economic issues.”
WHAT’S YOUR PASSION? “I enjoy spending time with family and friends but my real passion on R&R weekends is sailing my old boat, ‘Francesca,’ on Lake Pontchartrain. And, this will sound corny, but I really do enjoy working and doing my part to grow and strengthen our community and to be involved. This is really one of my strongest passions.”
BONUS QUESTION: What do you see as your biggest challenge in your new job heading up the WBR Chamber? What would you like to accomplish in your first year at the helm?
To integrate myself into the community of West Baton Rouge Parish in a leadership role, to help continue to build consensus and growth in West Baton Rouge Parish and to increase involvement in the various events and committees of the WBR Chamber.
