‘Stuff the Bus’
It won’t be long before school is back in session, and you can make it a better year for some students by donating school supplies to WBRZ’s “Stuff the Bus” collection efforts in East Baton Rouge and Ascension parishes.
WHEN: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
WHERE: Office Depot, 3116 College Drive in Baton Rouge and 703 N. Airline Highway in Gonzales.

WHAT’S NEEDED: Among the supplies being collected are 1- and 2-inch binders, pocket folders, construction paper, wide-ruled loose-leaf paper, pens, pencils, markers, rulers, scissors and glue.
Pedal power
As a fundraiser, Baton Rouge Advocates for Safe Streets will show “VEER,” which explores America’s fast-growing bicycling culture.
WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
WHERE: Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St.
TICKETS: $10 and can be purchased at http://www.manshiptheatre.org/. Seating is limited.

DETAILS: The screening is part of BRASS’ fundraising and membership drive. Proceeds will be used to expand bicycle education programs, continue efforts to improve bicycle and pedestrian facilities and expand outreach efforts in the community.
Women’s Week is coming
The Women’s Council of Greater Baton Rouge, now in its 15th year, is sponsoring its eighth annual “Women, A Week-Long Celebration” in September. Luncheon tickets and sponsorships are available now.
WHEN: Kickoff luncheon is Sept. 25.

DETAILS: Luncheon speaker will be Lisa Bull, certified human behaviorist. Women’s Week will include more than 150 events and activities of interest to women and families. Details are at the Web site.
SPONSORSHIPS: The deadline for Patron Sponsorships has been extended to July 10. Sponsorships are available
at various levels from $100 to $10,000. Individuals,
organizations and businesses will have their names and/or logos on materials that reach more than 20,000 women through the activity booklets, the luncheon and various events during the week.
Patrons will be recognized at all Women’s Week activities and at various events during the year.
