Warm soil helps palms get established. Summer, through August, is a good time to plant them, but keep new palms well watered.

LSU AgCenter horticulturists recommend palms that include cabbage, windmill, jelly, Mediterranean fan, Canary Island date palm, palmetto palm and needle.
