POP QUIZ: Margaret Tooke
Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.
QUIZ TAKER: Margaret Tooke, 51, partner at the law firm of Taylor Porter Brooks & Phillips. “We have over 70 lawyers and a great staff. It’s a wonderful place to practice law.”
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “The Beatles, Nora Jones, Rolling Stones, Jackson Browne, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson, Ray LaMontagne, Col. B.T. Nudd’s ‘The Bus Don’t Stop in Bunkie Anymore’ and lots of WRKF.”
WHAT I’M READING: “Newsweek, The Advocate (online), Real Simple Magazine, Gourmet and O magazines.”
WHAT I’M WATCHING: “The LSU baseball Tigers (during the College World Series)!, LPB’s ‘Lehrer Newshour,’ ‘The Daily Show,’ local news, ‘The Office’ and a variety of movies from Netflix.”
WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “StumbleUpon.com.”
WHAT’S YOUR PASSION:
“That’s hard to pin down. I love art in all its forms and am proudly serving on the board of directors of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge (as 2009-2010 president). Gardening is also an important part of my life; LSU sports, of course. Learning to play the bagpipes — it’s challenging but fun, and we’ve made great new friends — and needlepoint and cooking.”
BONUS QUESTION: Where’s your favorite vacation spot, and why does it claim this honor? Are you going there this summer, or have you already been?
“The Pacific Northwest, hands-down. We have family in Portland, Ore., and Olympia, Wash., and have enjoyed getting to explore both states. We love it because it is cool, gorgeous and near the water. Yes, we are going there again this summer.”
