A TEEN’S TAKE: Nicholas Schell on his interest in forensic science

“I hope to become a crime scene investigator working with the state or the city’s crime lab. I just want to do something to where I can help people and stop criminals and put them away. I’ve followed crime stories and watched how they’ve used DNA to catch criminals.”

Role model: A cousin who works for a Naval medical examiner’s office.

Extra: Schell will study forensics during the National Student Leadership Conference at the University of Maryland on June 24 through July 3. “All students get to solve a crime using forensic science.” He also volunteers at his school and around the community and has been selected for membership with the National Society of High School Scholars.
