3 BR priests to celebrate 40 years of ordination

Bishop Robert W. Muench will preside as the Revs. Frank Uter, Donald Blanchard and Gerald Burns celebrate the 40th anniversaries of their ordinations with special services.

The Mass for Uter is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 6484 La.  44, Convent.

The Mass for Blanchard and Burns is scheduled for 3 p.m. March 8 at St. Aloysius Church, 2025 Stuart Ave.

Uter was born in Baton Rouge and is a graduate of Catholic High School. During his ministry Uter has served at St. Isidore, St. Thomas More and St. Joseph Cathedral, all in Baton Rouge, as well as St. Mary’s in New Roads.

He serves the clustered parishes of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Gramercy, St. Joseph in Paulina and St. Michael in Convent.

Blanchard, who is retired and in residence at St. Aloysius, was born in Baton Rouge. He has served many parishes in the Baton Rouge Diocese.

Burns was also born in Baton Rouge and has served a number of parishes in the diocese. He has been pastor at St. Aloysius since 1997.
