THIS WEEK
DROP A NAME: Mention The Runnels School at the registers of Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 2590 Citiplace Court, Friday through Sunday and the high school library will receive a portion of your sale.

MOUNTED PATROL: Meet officers and their horses from the Baton Rouge Police Department’s Mounted Patrol at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd. The officers will discuss their role the department as well as demonstrate movements and skills used by the unit. No registration is required.

READ TO THE ANIMALS: Children ages 6 and older are invited to read from their favorite book to specially trained animals at 10 a.m. Saturday at the East Baton Rouge Parish Carver Branch Library, 720 Terrace St. No registration is required.

‘A CEREMONY OF CAROLS’: Greater Baton Rouge Children’s Chorus and the Women’s Chorus of First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge will present Benjamin Britten’s work at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 763 North Blvd. Jennifer Ellis will direct the combined ensembles; harpist Rebecca Todaro will accompany. The event is free.

GO BACK IN TIME: In addition to a live nativity with real donkeys and sheep, the Children’s Village at University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Road, will include hands-on Holy Land activities. Children are invited to make pottery, jewelry, art and spices and to listen to stories at the stable in the courtyard of the church 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT: Music for the season at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 in the St. Michael the Archangel High School gymnasium, 17521 Monitor Ave. The event is free.
