In a new light

Phillip Tebbutt, who teaches lighting design in LSU’s Department of Interior Design, steps from his sunroom to his deck. The sunroom gets lots of natural light, which is supplemented by an arching floor lamp in the seating area.

Successful lighting requires multiple sources. In Phillip Tebbutt’s dining room, a candle chandelier hangs from a ceiling of colorful corrugated fiberglass that’s lit from above. Several large windows supply natural lighting.

Chairs on Phillip Tebbutt’s deck are lit from underneath, giving a soft glow to the outdoor seating.
