Junior ROTC Cadet Capt. Jeremy Herbert, 17, of Glen Oaks High School, picks up litter during clean-up day on Nov. 17 at the Scotlandville Parkway Park where other members of his club, Young Educated Males Against Drugs and Violence, volunteered. Herbert, who also is captain of his school’s football team and a Student Government Association representative, founded the club in an effort to help steer young men away from negative situations that might lead them down the path of drugs and violence, he said.
