Miles upon miles of white sandy beaches

Northwest Florida features many miles of white sandy beaches, extending from Perdido Key past the Emerald Coast.

The best part is that access to some of the beaches along the Florida coast is free.

All you need to bring is yourself, your friends, your family and whatever else you might need to spend a day in the sun.

There are several major beach areas to try out, from Perdido Key State Park to Pensacola Beach to the Emerald Coast communities of Destin and Fort Walton Beach.

A concert in the park to celebrate spring

Throw your lawn chairs and a picnic basket in the car and take a road trip to Destin to enjoy an evening of music.

Concerts in the Park, an eight-week event that showcases all different types of music, will run throughout May and June. Weekly concerts will be on Thursdays on the Event Lawn at the Mattie Kelly Arts Village, 4323 Commons Drive W. in Destin.

Shows begin at 7 p.m. Admission is a $5 donation for adults and free for children younger than 12.
