Find true N’Awlins flavor at festival
The second annual North RampArt Festival in New Orleans will showcase more than 20 artists and musicians tomorrow, Nov. 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors taking in the lively urban block party will find that North Rampart access to Toulouse and St. Peter streets will be closed during the event.
Entertainment starts at 11 a.m. with the Treme Brass Band. Other performers will be I’Voire Spectacle featuring Seguenon Kone, Sunpie Barnes and the Louisiana Sunspots, and Walter “Wolfman” Washington.
The children’s area will feature a variety of interactive art programs. Also, look for the New Orleans Young Traditional Brass Band and African Dance and Drums.
A variety of artwork will be presented by Kabuki Hats, 2-Dye-4 Fashions, Kathleen Olson, NOLA Cooks, Le Jardin Glass Art, Inexplicable Confetti, Michele R. Baugnon Designs, Mike Remy Photography, Nica Naturals, Drunk Monkey NOLA, Naydja’s Handmade Purses and Accessories, and others.
It wouldn’t be a true New Orleans festival without plenty of great food. Vendors will include Wolfe’s of New Orleans, Tomatillo’s, N’Awlins Flava Café, Pull My Pork, P&J Oysters, and Covenant Café. Sample everything from crab cakes and red beans and rice to beef tacos and marinated oysters. Abita Beer and sodas also will be available.
The RampArt Festival is part of Louisiana Main to Main: A Cultural Road Show, a state-wide program of the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.
It’s presented by The N. Rampart Main Street Inc., which was established to revitalize the street from Canal Street to Esplanade Avenue. The organization promotes historic preservation and encourages economic development. The area is a gateway to the French Quarter as well as the historic Treme neighborhood.
