From the directors of “Date Movie,” “Epic Movie,” “Meet the Spartans” and the “Scary Movie” series comes “Disaster Movie,” in which a group of Abercrombie and Fitch-wearing 20-somethings are hit with every natural disaster while searching for safety and a way to prevent the destruction of the world.

I can appreciate most comedy, even the cheap laughs from bathroom humor, but comedic satire is an art form, and it’s something that Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, both writers and directors of “Disaster Movie,” have yet to accomplish.

It was totally out of place in theater because it was written like it should have gone straight to DVD. Not only was the film not funny, but it was boring. If I hadn’t had two cups of coffee before watching it, I would have fallen asleep. It wasn’t even entertaining for entertainment’s sake.

Considering what the writers/directors had done before, I wasn’t expecting much, except the trailer gave me a few laughs. Too bad the funniest part of the whole movie was the trailer. In fact, I would rather watch the trailer on repeat for an hour and a half than have to sit through that movie again.

The longer the movie went on, the more annoying the cast became and the more contrived the jokes seemed to be. The parody at the very end of the movie gave me a laugh, but I’m not sure if I found it funny because I knew it was over or because it reminded me of the original, which like everything else in the movie was a million times better.

After a string of these parody movies, I had hoped they would stop making them. The first time is fresh and funny, after that they become old, and the jokes just repeat themselves. Friedberg and Seltzer have definitely found their niche with the teen crowd, but what are they going to do when even they are sick of watching horrible movies? I don’t want to find out.

I can only guess that most people are paying to watch Kim Kardashian run around with her shirt open and then watch her wrestle Carmen Electra in a ring half dressed. Kardashian is only in a portion of the film, and the wrestling match is only a minute, so you might as well wait for it on DVD.

Save your money by not watching this if for no other reason then to let “Disaster Movie” become a box office bust in hopes that Friedberg and Seltzer won’t make another one.
