UFC to show events in movie theaters LAS VEGAS (AP) — The UFC is headed to the big screen. The mixed martial arts league has reached a deal to showcase its main events at over 300 movie theaters, starting with UFC 111 on March 27. Although the UFC experimented with big-screen presentations for its fights in Britain for several years, this stateside deal follows the financial success of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s victory over Juan Manuel Marquez. Boxer Toney signs with UFC AS VEGAS (AP) — Boxer James Toney is taking a crack at mixed martial arts, signing a multifight deal with UFC. The 41-year-old Toney is a former super middleweight and cruiserweight champion who fought Roy Jones Jr., Evander Holyfield, John Ruiz and Hasim Rahman. But he hasn't had a significant title shot since March 2006, and he also tested positive for steroids twice. Velasquez wins by knockout SYDNEY (AP) — Cain Velasquez knocked out veteran Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira at 2:20 of the first round Sunday to claim the featured heavyweight bout at UFC 110. UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez The Ultimate Fighting Championship heads to Sydney for UFC 110 Saturday, Feb. 20. The main card is set to kick off around 9 p.m. CST. The land down under will be well-represented with “The Ultimate Fighter” alumnus George Sotiropoulos, UFC veterans Elvis Sinosic and Chris Haseman, and up-and-comer James Te Huna. UFC fighters take trip Down Under Although Cain Velasquez and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira soon hope to be fighting for a UFC title a bit closer to home, they're happy to take a detour to Australia to decide who gets the next big shot. The two talented heavyweights will be joined on the UFC's latest road trip by Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping at UFC 110, the mixed martial arts league's first major event in a country that loves a good brawl.
