Arts Market will mark 11th year

The Baton Rouge Arts Market will celebrate its 11th anniversary 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 7, at Fifth and Main streets.

The celebration will offer shopping with 70 artists from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Florida; live entertainment from 9 a.m. to noon; birthday cupcakes; and artist Anita LeJeune of New Roads instructing kids in printmaking. This hands-on activity will take place 8 a.m.-noon in the Arts Market Kids Booth, and kids will get to take home their very own print creations.

The Arts Market began in 1998 with 11 participating artists. Since then, it has seen tremendous growth and has showcased the talents and gifts of more than 200 artists.

Saturday also is the 13th birthday of the Red Stick Farmers Market, and the seventh birthday of the Main Street Market.

In December, the Arts Market is open the first three Saturdays for extra holiday shopping.

Tigerama tickets on sale

Tickets are on sale for the 29th annual Tigerama Concert set for 8-10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Baton Rouge River Center, 275 S. River Road.

The concert will be preceded by a VIP reception from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to benefit the fundraising campaign for the construction of the new LSU Tiger Band Hall.

The first part of the concert will feature the LSU Wind Ensemble and LSU Symphonic Winds. The second part will feature the LSU Tiger Marching Band.

Tickets to the VIP reception are $75 for adults and $30 for children. The price includes VIP seating to the concert, admission to the reception and an opportunity to pose for photos with the LSU Golden Girls.
