'Kinetics' will benefit Baton Rouge Gallery
The name has changed, but the event is still the same. In the past, Baton Rouge Center for Contemporary Art’s annual live and silent auctions took on a theme.
“We’ve decided to give it a permanent name,” John Michael Byrd said. “From now on, it’ll be known as Kinetics. It’s more forward thinking, which matches the mission of the gallery.”
Byrd is the gallery’s special events coordinator. He said some 400 people attended last year’s event, which is the gallery’s sole annual fundraiser.
“We’ll be selling tickets for the first time this year,” Byrd said.
The evening will include the live auction, made up of 40 pieces by the gallery’s artist members; a silent auction, which includes community-donated art and art-related goods and services. The silent auction begins at 6 p.m., with the live auction at 8 p.m.
All proceeds from Kinetics 2009 will be used to continue Baton Rouge Gallery’s efforts to promote quality contemporary art and artists.
