Season tickets go on sale for Sinfonietta concerts

Season tickets are on sale for the Louisiana Sinfonietta’s 2009-2010 season.

Tickets are $70 for adults and $60 for seniors and students. Single concert tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. All seating is general admission.

The season begins Sept. 27 with the Grand Opening Concert at First Baptist Church, 529 Convention St., featuring guest artists Brett Dietz on percussion, violist Lin He and violist Matthew Daline.

The All Mozart concert will follow Nov. 1 at First Baptist Church with Borislava Iltcheva soloing on violin and Michael Gurt on piano.

On Dec. 13, the Sinfonietta will perform works by F.J. Haydn, along with LSU works at the LSU School of Music Recital Hall. Guest artist for this program is tenor Jin Hin Yap. Several original pieces will be premiered in this concert.

The Music for the Young at Heart concert will be Jan. 27 at the LSU School of Music Recital Hall. Violinists Stefka Ilieva and Paris Parascoudis will perform, along with oboist James Ryon, violinist Kelly Smith Toney, harpist Kimberly Hauser, percussionist Brett Dietz and baritone Terrance Brown. Judy Constantinides will provide narration for the premiere of the musical story Magic Pot.

Finally, on May 2, the Sinfonietta will perform its Grand Finale concert, once again at First Baptist Church. Gabriel Beavers will be featured on bassoon, Georgios Demertzis on violin and Constance Carroll on piano.
