Native American storyteller to perform at libraries
Sit back, and journey through time with Native American storyteller Grayhawk of the United Houma Nation.
Tweens and teens will be guided through the past with Grayhawk’s interactive storytelling and traditional stomp friendship songs. Bloomsday Party
The ever popular Bloomsday Celebration, hosted by the Baton Rouge Irish Club, will be held 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the Baton Rouge Gallery, 1442 City Park Ave. Bloomsday is celebrated annually to commemorate the life of Irish novelist James Joyce and the fictious events in his novel Ulysses. The story takes place in Dublin during a single day, June 16, 1904. The word Bloomsday is derived from the name of the central character in the book, Leopold Bloom. The first Bloomsday celebration took place in Dublin in 1954. Activities will include music and readings. Refreshments and wine will be served. There is no charge for the event.
