Baton Rouge Little Theater honored its numerous volunteers and the top actors from its 63rd season at the annual Beaux Arts Ball June 6.

Each year, awards are presented in numerous categories for actors, actresses and technical support.

The winners of all acting awards in each of the eight categories were determined by a panel of judges who attended each production throughout the season.

At the end of the season, the nominations were complied and the same judges selected a winner from the nominees in each category.

This year, Samantha Smart was named best actress in a musical for her portrayal of Velma Kelly in Chicago, and Tim Callais was selected best actor in a musical for his portrayal of Leo Bloom in The Producers.

Drew Lamonica Arms won best actress in a play honors for Vertical Hour.

Best actor in a play for the second year in a row went to Bill Martin Williams as Sir Thomas More in A Man For All Seasons.

Best supporting actress in a musical went to Kristy Coast for her role in Singin’ in the Rain and Albert Nolan won best supporting actor in a musical for The Producers.

The best supporting actress in a play award was given to Jennifer Johnson for A Man For All Seasons. Tim Callais took home his second award of the evening as best supporting actor in a play for A Man For All Seasons.

This year’s outstanding technical volunteer award went to Pat Wafer.

Michael Katchmer, also from The Producers, entertained the audience with “Haben Sie Gehort Das Deutsche Band.” The men of Chicago were on hand to deliver their rendition of “The Cold Slab Tango,” and Coast performed “What’s Wrong With Me” from Singin’ in the Rain.

The audience was also treated to a sneak preview of the upcoming summer musical, The King & I, courtesy of Leonard Augustus.

It was “An Evening on the Red Carpet,” with entertainment, food and music. The theme for this year’s ball was decidedly Hollywood, with the entire theater decked out to match.
