'BlackSite' a solid shooter
Shooter games are one of the most popular genres in the video game world. But you must have a certain desire and skill to play shooters, or else you are going to end up confused and disappointed.
The same can be said of first-person games. So when you run across a first-person shooter like 'BlackSite Area 51," it's not the game to get your feet wet.
"BlackSite" is produced by Midway, and its plot offers a frightening scenario to citizens of this country: war on American grounds. The backlash of the war in Iraq spills over to conflict in a tiny town in Nevada.
The main character is Aeran Pierce, who along with Mitchell Ambrose, Cody Grayson and Noa Weis fight to protect American interests. Their chief foes are Reborn Soldier, Reborn Scout, Flathead, Drudge Grunt and Spore Tower.
The game plays as a typical war title. You shoot and bomb the bad guys and keep yourself from having the same done to you.
What you need to be successful in "BlackSite" is good command of your controller and a quick trigger finger. You also have to do some walking, but not so much to the point where you get incredibly bored.
But mastering your aim is the biggest hurdle to success in "BlackSite." You must be precise and a quick. If you take too long to zero in on your target, you'll find yourself in serious trouble.
One positive aspect of "BlackSite" is the ability to regenerate your health with just the slightest bit of discretion. If you get hit but can back yourself out of the fray for a bit, you'll be back in service in almost no time.
But you need to be smart about the use of your ammunition. Wildly shooting without progression leads to a dead-end path and ultimate frustration with the plot. If you're successful in "BlackSite," you'll have opportunities to replenish your ammunition and continue on within the game.
This game is not for those who are faint of heart or short on patience. If you've played plenty of shooters, you'll like "BlackSite." It has enough action to go with a game path that requires intelligent play. But you'll need patience and skill to get the most out of your "BlackSite" experience.
