BATON ROUGE – The LSU Libraries Special Collections Williams Center for Oral History has launched its podcast series, What Endures, found online at http://oralhistory.blogs.lib.lsu.edu.

The first episode, “Politics and a Pulitzer,” highlights the mission of the Williams Center and focuses on its namesake, T. Harry Williams. Featured excerpts include an interview that Williams conducted with former Gov. Richard Leche, excerpts from Huey Long’s “Share Our Wealth” speech and more.

Subsequent podcasts on What Endures will run from 15 to 20 minutes in length and will be posted approximately every two weeks. Upcoming episodes are “Sin and Smoke: Stories of Our State” and “We Watched It All Wash Away: Oral Histories of Flood and Storm Survivors.”

Additional podcasts will feature Louisiana’s struggle with civil rights, university history, women’s history in education and Louisiana’s World War II veterans. The director will also interview professionals in the field of oral history along with some of the center’s partners about their projects.
