Black Eyed Peas
THE E.N.D.
They named their latest CD The E.N.D., but The E.N.D. is really the beginning of another run of hits from the fun-as-ever Black Eyed Peas. “Boom Boom Pow,” the hip-hop-electronic track that opens the foursome’s new CD, is in its tenth week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart.
No doubt The E.N.D., released this week, will rocket to the top of Billboard's albums chart next week. And whenever “Boom Boom Pow” gets out of the way, follow-up single “I Gotta Feeling,” a straight-up party-pop anthem sung by group member Fergie, will fly up the charts, too. It's not just fun, it's uplifting.
Riding atop smacking beats and fat electronic keyboards, The E.N.D. spends much of its time on the dance floor. Will.i.am — the Black Eyed Peas’ rapper, primary composer and mastermind — shares the vocal limelight with the soulful Fergie in dance tracks that work as music to listen to and beats to dance to.
Though “Party All The Time” kicks it, for instance, it’s got a certain something that transcends dance music.
As dance-based as The E.N.D. is, the Peas vary their flavor with the dancehall reggae of “Electric City” and funny country-rock of “Now Generation,” perhaps the most likely Black Eyed Peas song to be covered by John Mellencamp.
With so much fun, imagination and entertainment in their music, it's no surprise that the mighty Black Eyed Peas are dancing, singing and rapping on top of the world.
