The Oriskany was an attack aircraft carrier designated CV-34.
Source: “Jane’s Fighting Ships,”
1949-50 edition
Oriskany is “a village in central New York state. It was the scene of one of the bloodiest battles of the Revolutionary War, during the Saratoga campaign in the summer of 1777.”

What is a swan song?
A swan song is a “farewell appearance or accomplishment or an artist’s last work. The term rests from the ancient belief that swans are mute (most species tend to remain silent in captivity) but burst into song when they die. The myth has been around since ancient Greek times and was mentioned often by the Elizabethans, especially Shakespeare.”
