Book lovers should be in their element tomorrow, Oct. 4, during the 6th Annual Louisiana Book Festival, which will be held in and around the State Library on North Fourth Street, the State Museum across the street and the State Capitol.

The free annual festival, scheduled from 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m., will bring about 150 writers, poets and storytellers to town to meet Baton Rouge’s residents.

Authors will discuss their works through the day and there will be exhibitions, storytellers, book sales, panel discussions, book signings, activities for kids and teens, food and live music.

Among the highlights are author discussions by Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson (The Way to Happiness FOR KIDS), at 11 a.m.; Paul Dietzel (Call Me Coach: A Life in College Football) at 3 p.m. and Scott Rabalais (The Fighting Tigers, 1993-2008: Into a New Century of LSU Football) at 4 p.m., which are all in Senate Committee Room A.

The live music schedule on the entertainment stage will include: Amanda Shaw, 11:15 a.m.; The Zydepunks, 12:30 p.m.; Rick Kelley, 2 p.m.; and the Greater King David Men’s Choir, 3:30 p.m.

The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra will present a free outdoor concert starting at 6 p.m. in front of the Louisiana State Capitol to conclude the Book Festival .

Free parking will be available in lots around the Capitol, and the Galvez Parking Garage on North Street (on the left coming from I-110) is free until 3 p.m. After that, parking will be $3. The Welcome Center Parking Garage, located at the corner of North and Lafayette streets, will be $3 all day. The LaSalle Parking Garage is a card-access only garage and therefore will be unavailable.
