They call her … well, they don’t really call her anything.
She’s just a child, the perfect child. Menacing, in fact, in her perfection.
“Well, she’s not evil from my point of view,” Colleen King said.
Maybe King’s perspective is grounded in the fact that she’s playing this child.
King smiles.
Yes, that’s it. And if you’ve spent the time developing a character — especially when that character is a child — you want to look for the good points.
And King sees some good points.
“I can, at least, see some good things from my point of view,” she said. “But the audience might not agree with me. Then again, I’m looking at this from my character’s point of view.”
But there’s no helping thinking the worst. King is starring in a play called The Pretty in which a married couple search for the perfect style.
The play is among four one-acts making up the LSU Department of Theatre’s Lab Season production It’s Scary Y’all: Horrorfest 2009 beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27. It will be the second production performed in the new Studio Theatre inside LSU’s Music & Dramatic Arts Building.
And it requires minimal props.
“We’re going from one play to the next, so we needed to make the transition as easy as possible,” Garrett Guilbeau said.
He’s Horrorfest’s stage manager, in charge of the details for each of the stories.
