LSU production of 'Earnest' opens Oct. 13 in Reilly Theatre
The LSU Department of Theatre will present a Lab Theatre production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest Tuesday-Sunday, Oct. 13-18, in the Reilly Theatre on Tower Drive on the LSU campus.
Performances on all days will be at 7:30 p.m. with an added 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Oct. 18.
Nichole Ingalsbe is the director of this play, which is billed as an endlessly funny comedy that satirizes social posturing among deliciously superficial people. From the story’s sparkling beginnings in Algernon Montcrief’s London flat to the conclusion in the drawing room of Jack Worthing’s country manor in Hertfordshire, this comic masterpiece keeps audiences breathlessly anticipating another witty comment or a fresh twist of plot.
Wilde’s madcap farce about mistaken identities, secret engagements and lovers’ entanglements still delights audiences more than a century after its 1895 premiere performance.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased only at the door.
