L.A. troupe will perform 2 radio dramas at BRCC
Baton Rouge Community College will host LA Theatre Works’ performances of two radio dramas The War of the Worlds and The Lost World at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the college’s Magnolia Performing Arts Pavilion.
The theater company also will be performing a students-only show at 1:30 p.m. that same day, and the cast will visit with faculty members as part of the school’s Professional Development Series for faculty and staff.
These two radio dramas will be recreated live on stage, transporting audience members back to a time when radio ruled the airwaves.
LA Theatre Works is under the leadership of producing director Susan Albert Loewenberg.
It has been the foremost radio theater company in the United States for more than two decades.
Broadcast in America on NPR stations, streamed online at http://www.latw.org and aired internationally on the BBC, CBC, and many other English language networks, the theater company has brought recorded dramatic literature into the homes of millions.
The company records the majority of its productions annually in Los Angeles before an audience of season subscribers. Works by Arthur Miller, Eugene O’Neill, David Henry Hwang, Athol Fugard, Wendy Wasserstein, Neil Simon, David Mamet, Lynn Nottage and others have been performed and recorded by the company with casts of film and stage actors.
On the road, the company has delighted audiences with its unique live radio theater style performances in more than 150 small towns and major cities, including New York, Boston, Washington and Chicago.
