Museum hosts free program
The LSU Museum of Art at the Shaw Center for the Arts is open this week, and … it’s free, according to marketing director Renee Payton.
Kids and their favorite adults can play “I Spy” for free Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13. Use the rhymes and riddles to explore the galleries, spying for eyes and ears, colors and shapes.
And don’t miss your chance to create some art of your own in the education gallery by the American Masters exhibition. Also, don’t forget the Second Saturday’s birthday party for Robert Indiana.
Then, mark your calendar for Third Thursday at the museum. To kick off the event, the LSU Museum of Art has rescheduled the tailgating reception to celebrate its new gallery dedicated to the display of works by LSU art professors and their students. See works by Kelli Scott Kelly, Michael Crespo, Paul Dufour, Armin Scheler and others.
The exhibit is titled LSU Art Past and Present, and it will take place Thursday, Sept. 18. For details, call (225) 389-7206.
