On Saturday, Dec. 27, in Las Vegas, Nev., the Ultimate Fighting Championship will end the year with one of the best cards in its history. In fact, three of the bouts on the main card could easily serve as the main event.

Forrest Griffin will defend his new title against undefeated Rashad Evans. Coaches of “The Ultimate Fighter” season eight, Antonio Nogueira and Frank Mir will face off to see who will get a shot at the heavyweight title, currently held by Brock Lesnar. Also, on this main card, Quinton Jackson and Wanderlei Silva will have their highly anticipated third match-up. The remainder of the night will be littered with UFC veterans such as Cheick Kongo, Matt Hamill and Yushin Okami.

All in all, “The Ultimate 2008” fight card looks to be a solid end to a very impressive year in the UFC.

Main Event:

Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad “Sugar” Evans

Forrest Griffin will defend his title against a man who appears unbeatable, Rashad Evans. Evans continues to prove his critics wrong especially after his last fight against Chuck Liddell.

Evans, a former college All-American Wrestler, knocked out Liddell, who is one of the best strikers in UFC history.

Griffin, however, always has a game plan and has put away two of the best fighters in the world in his last two bouts (Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Quinton Rampage” Jackson).

Griffin by Unanimous Decision

Main Card:

Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira vs. Frank Mir

Season eight coaches of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show will battle for the right to face Brock Lesnar for the heavyweight championship belt. Nogueira, who is the current interim heavyweight champion, wants the right to win the belt outright. Mir, who is also a former heavyweight champion, looks to get back what was once his. If Mir is able to defeat Nogueira, he will face Lesnar for the second time in his past three fights.

Nogueira by Unanimous Decision
