William Weathers has covered a variety of sports for The Advocate for the past five years, concentrating on high school sports, football recruiting and LSU women's basketball and softball, after first joining the staff as a copy editor in 1999. A native of Pensacola, Fla. who was raised in Lafayette, La. Weathers attended both Northside High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now UL-Lafayette). His journalism career has spanned 19 years after also working at the Abbeville Meridional, Shreveport Journal and Lafayette Daily Advertiser.
Weathers is a member of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and is currently a member of The Associated Press' Top 25 voting panel.
