William Taylor is an assistant people editor for The Advocate. His primary responsibilities include planning and writing for the Faith & Values section, which includes religion, kids and teen news.
Taylor has worked for newspapers in Louisiana and Texas since 1988, serving in a variety of reporting and editing positions. After 12 years with the San Angelo Standard-Times in West Texas, he moved to Louisiana in 2003, first working for the Town Talk in Alexandria and then coming to The Advocate in 2005. Ironically, a Texas Aggie, rather than a native Louisianan, introduced him to his first helping of boiled crawfish here.
At The Advocate, he covered federal courts and the 1st Circuit Court of Appeal until he was promoted just before Hurricane Katrina to his current position.
Taylor earned his bachelor of science degree in education from Baylor University with journalism and English as his teaching fields and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary for two semesters.
