I’m constantly amazed at the creativity and resourcefulness of my readers.
Sometimes I think they should be running the state — a feeling I’m sure most of them share.
For instance, here’s a novel idea from Bo Bienvenu:
“It is depressing to keep reading about our brain drain, drop-out rate in schools and budget cuts to education.
“Maybe we should turn all education in Louisiana over to Tom Benson.
“He doesn’t seem to have any trouble getting money from the state, and look how improved the Saints are this year.
“Could he get the same results with our schools and universities?”
All by itself
Our reader’s comment about the lack of out-of-state license plates in Hawaii brought this response from Marsha R.:
“Back in the ’90s I returned to Hawaii and visited with the few family members who had not fled to California.
“I questioned them closely about their main highway, designated I-1. I tried to find out which two states this highway was ‘inter’ to, but could not get a straight answer.
“Now I see the roadways are called H-1 and H-3. I like to think the change was due to my stern and relentless questioning.”
