Lynda Normand says she and husband Cliff recently had an unexpected visitor at 11:30 p.m.
She says a loud crash of breaking glass woke her up:
“I got out of bed and approached the front of the house. I could see something white in the foyer.
“I thought my husband had fallen and was in desperate trouble, rolling around on the floor.
“Then the light came on. Cliff was standing beside me.
“As I looked in the corner of the dining room, I thought, ‘That is the biggest dog I have ever seen — It must be a Great Dane.’
“Then, as the head turned, I realized it was a deer.
“Cliff went toward the deer and grabbed the horns, which were draped with my beautiful lace curtains.
“Just like a rodeo cowboy, he turned the deer slowly around. The deer fell on top of him and he had to wrestle him up.
“Cliff started to move him toward me, and I opened the front door to make the escape easier.
“The deer ran off into the night wearing my drapes. It was like a bride running with her veil flowing behind her.
“If anyone kills a six-point buck wearing drapes, please return them.”
To add insult to injury, Lynda says her grandchildren up north have started serenading her with “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.”
