If you don’t think times are tough for Louisiana educators these days, here’s proof from Vickie Mansur LeBlanc:

“My father, Weber P. Mansur Jr., and my brother, Steve, were at the golf course just about to tee off when they saw a gentleman by himself at the first tee.

“They invited him to join them, and he accepted, telling them he was an LSU professor.

“They played several uneventful holes, and then on No. 5 Daddy and Steve were up on the green first.

“Daddy placed his ball marker on the green and Steve used a quarter as his marker.

“The professor joined them on the green, and Daddy putted first.

“Then it was Steve’s turn. He looked for his ball marker, and said, ‘I know I put a quarter down here somewhere.’

“The professor sheepishly pulled a quarter from his pocket, and said he thought he had found it on the green!

“My daddy and my brother are still laughing.

“No more cuts to higher education!”

Sweet victory

David Boudreaux, of Donaldsonville, says when he and his family checked in at a dude ranch in Colorado, they met the McKee family from Baton Rouge.

The two families (10 people in all) wanted to see the College World Series, but the ranch had no TV or radio. So they watched the final game huddled around a laptop.
