On a recent visit there, Hope Moreau discovered that despite being in Gator country, Disney World in Orlando, Fla., is the home of many LSU fans:

“During just one parade (we were wearing LSU T-shirts, of course) two members of the parade (Disney World employees) shouted ‘Geaux Tigers.’

“One was from New Iberia and one was from New Roads.

“Another member of the parade shouted, ‘LSU, that’s where it’s at!’ — and then Goofy shouted ‘LSU!’ over the PA system! Gotta love it.”

Winging it
T’Bootsy, of Back Brusly, says the discussion of “all you can eat” places brought to mind this story:

“Years ago Willard Scott told about a place in Indiana that had a sign: ‘Fried Chicken — All You Can Eat  $3.’ So he went in.

“They brought him a wing and a neck and said, ‘That’s all you can eat for $3.’ ”

Loss leader
This one comes from Mike Wilson by way of his cousin, Shirley Fleniken:

“Billy Maxwell, former head track coach at LSU, related this story (he was an assistant football coach at Tennessee at the time):

“He said he and several of his football recruits went to an ‘all you can eat’ ribs restaurant.

“After about eight orders, the manager came over and told Billy, ‘If y’all don’t order any more ribs, the check’s on me.’ ”

Beauty and the rest
For a TV spot promoting the Fourth of July fireworks display, WBRZ-TV and The Advocate chose TV anchor-reporter Lori Steele, Advocate weather columnist Pat Shingleton and me.

Lori is taller, blonder and lovelier than we are.
