As an LSU guy, it is with reluctance that I mention Tulane athletic supporters.
But here’s one from Keith Horcasitas:
“My late dad was a staunch Greenie fan. In 1973, we celebrated in New Orleans, where after 25 years of losing to LSU Tulane won 14-0!”
Here’s part of a song composed after the game:
“At kickoff time the crowd was there, a 90,000 strong.
A drunken LSU fan shouted, ‘It won’t take us long!’
The Tigers had possession and Miley ran the ball,
But he stopped dead when someone said,
‘It’s me, Charlie Hall!’
Roll, Wave, roll,
Show ’em where it’s at.
Show the world you’re not afraid of them Bayou Pussycats. …”
Back at ’em
Kristina Murphy is compiling a list of “most hated commercials, which blast my pleasant home.”
She wonders how car dealers and furniture store owners would react if you walked into their businesses and started yelling at them.

From Klamath Falls, Ore., comes news that the New Canal Lighthouse in New Orleans has been selected to be restored by the JELD-WEN window and door company.
The lighthouse was one of 12 in the competition. The original lighthouse on Lake Pontchartrain was built in 1838.
A taller structure, built in 1890, was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
Lynne Butterworth of the company called the lighthouse “a beacon of hope to a region and a nation still recovering from the devastation of Katrina.”
The nonprofit Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation owns the lighthouse.
Reconstruction is scheduled to begin in the spring.
