About the governor’s bedtime
Before first lady Supriya Jindal came to read “Corduroy the Bear” to Susie Eubanks’ kindergarten class at Wedgewood Elementary, Susie briefed her students on the role of the governor.
“Here are some questions that were of concern to my students,” Susie says:
Jaylin: “Can the governor stay up late, or does he have to go to bed when Mrs. Jindal tells him to?”
Kylerina: “Can he stay up and watch himself on TV?”
Kye: “Can he drive his own car?”
Imani: “If you get to be the governor, can you still eat spaghetti?”
Andria: “Can he read good enough to read his little boy a story?”
Evangeline: “Does the governor know his left hand from his right hand, and does he know how to say the pledge?”
Alisha: “If he forgets to turn off the lights at night, will the security guard do it for him?”
And this great question: “Why did his mother name him ‘Governor’?”

I’ll announce the winner of my Worst Song Contest soon. (I want to string out the suspense for a while.)
