Susan tells of how thoughtful LSU fans were on the Friday afternoon before the Mississippi State game, providing free music to the folks from our neighboring state:

“I was heading home from work on Interstate 10 east near College Drive.

“I saw the MSU football equipment truck stuck in the jam on the westbound side because of a wreck on the I-10 bridge.

“I was listening to Eagle 98.1, and they announced the truck’s situation like this: ‘Hey guys! This song is for you!’

“They then played Tiger Rag (‘Hold That Tiger’) and encouraged all LSU fans  listening in the vicinity to roll their windows down and ‘CRANK IT UP!’ ”

Lousy tunes
My Worst Song Contest has ended, but here are a few entries that caught my attention: 

“My nomination for worst song is ‘You Light Up My Life’ by Debbie Boone. It makes my teeth hurt every time I hear it.” (Glenna Simmons)

“I really had a hard time coming up with a song — until I heard Sammy Davis Jr. singing ‘The Candy Man.’ ” (Dennis “Julio” Gomez)

“My entry for the worst song of all time is ‘I Put a Spell on You’ by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. I only know of one person who likes it.” (Ben Duke of Livingston)

(Make that two, Ben. I’m a fan of the old screamer.)

“As a music publisher, I shouldn’t criticize songs.  Music publishers would kill for the royalties the worst nominees have made. BUT, Billy Preston’s ‘Nothing from Nothing Leaves Nothing’ has got to be ‘THE WORST.’ (Johnny Palazzotto)

“There can be no song worse than ‘Baby I’m-a Want You’ by Bread. There just couldn’t be.” (John Snead)

C.J. Guidry says when he stopped in Opelousas “for some boudin to munch on while driving home,” an article on the LSU-Auburn football game in the local paper caught his eye.
