Janice Harvey says, “We live right next door to Becky Bellue, who happens to be the mayor of Norwood.

“I called her recently to borrow a cup of milk, as neighbors often do in Norwood.

“When I arrived, measuring cup in hand, imagine my surprise when her pet pot-bellied pig darted from underneath the kitchen table and bit me on the leg!

“Now it’s common knowledge that politicians are protective of their pork — but who knew the pork could be so protective of their politicians?”

Burning memories
George Lane says, “It may be my Southern heritage and memories of the Civil War, but I still get nervous when Georgia gets invaded — again!”

Buy Pat a margarita
Kathy Duplantis reminds us that it’s been 15 years since Pat McBride “started rounding up stray Parrot Heads in the area and formed the Loyal Order of DisOrder Parrot Head Club of Baton Rouge!”

Parrot Heads, of course, are admirers of Jimmy Buffett’s tropical songs, but they do a lot more than wear flowered shirts and put umbrellas in their drinks.

The group holds an annual Bike Ride for the Environment, prepares Christmas baskets for the needy, and pitches in whenever some worthy cause needs help.

As Kathy says, “We’ve seen a lot of good things happen in our community during those years, and we have made a lot of new friends. Thanks for your vision, Pat!”

Marvin Borgmeyer, his “agent and designated driver,” announces that once again this year Brother Eldon Crifasi is offering to do his bit to make sure that all seats in LSU’s Tiger Den Suites are filled for home football games.

Yes, this selfless gent has volunteered to occupy any unused seat, to make sure our lads play before a full house.
