Joseph Schiefelbein has been writing for The Advocate’s sports department since 1991, joining the staff as a full-time member in November 1995 after serving as the sports editor at The Natchitoches Times from June to November of that year.
Schiefelbein, who has covered four men’s basketball Final Fours and one women’s Final Four, has been The Advocate’s primary beat writer for Southern University athletics as well as Grambling and the Southwestern Athletic Conference since 1999.
He was born in Milwaukee and has also lived in Tampa, Fla., and Baltimore. He has been married to the former Jessica Naquin since 1992.
Pete Richardson, at a spry 64 years of age, has been around a lot of football.
