Randy Rosetta is a Topeka, Kan., native who took a circuitous route before landing in Baton Rouge in June 2004. A University of Kansas graduate, Rosetta has made career stops in Kansas City, Kan., Farmington, N.M., Las Cruces, N.M., Lubbock, Texas, Midland, Texas and Auburn, Ala. His primary beats for The Advocate are LSU football and LSU baseball after four years as the LSU men’s basketball beat writer.
He spearheaded the Advocate’s coverage of the 2006 Final Four appearance by the LSU men’s basketball team, as well as the Tiger baseball team’s latest College World Series championship. Now he is anxiously awaiting the chance to tackle a BCS Championship Game in football.
Rosetta is married to Jenny Hall Rosetta, a native of Plainview, Texas, and a kindergarten teacher at LaSalle Elementary in Baton Rouge. They have two daughters, Mallory (almost 10, going on 23) and 19-month-old Darby, who had the courtesy to arrive before her daddy’s Kansas Jayhawks won the 2008 NCAA national championship in basketball.
