Pat Shingleton for Oct. 13, 2009
The long arm of the law now includes criminal misconduct affecting the atmosphere.
I read in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society an item from the Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA has a Web site on 23 suspects accused of environmental offenses.
Included are fugitive photos, their crimes and last known location. For example, Omran Alphazouli is accused of selling R-12 Freon, an ozone-depleting substance smuggled from Mexico.
Mahmoud Almchie was arrested with 105 cylinders of ozone-depleting contraband before fleeing the U.S. to avoid prosecution.
Other fugitives are sought for illegal chemical dumping and illegal asbestos removal.
Fastcast: More steam, more rain.
