As we monitor the Caribbean, Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico for tropical storms, we note the Top 10 International Weather Events of 2007, from Weatherwise Magazine. On Nov. 15, Category 4 Cyclone Sir hammered Bangladesh killing 3,400 and destroying 500,000 homes. Hurricane Felix hit Nicaragua on Sept. 4, killing 130. Hurricane Dean hit Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula on Aug. 24, resulting in 40 deaths. Tropical Storm Noel was blamed for 147 deaths when it moved across Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas from Oct. 29 through Nov. 1. Finally, Tropical Cyclone Gonu became the strongest cyclone on record for the Arabian Sea, battering Oman on June 4 with 50 deaths.
