Kurt Weilbacher knows quite a bit about hail. Recently, he told me that pea size to ping-pong size hail can cause a variety of damage, depending upon the consistency. From Kurt’s experiences, he noted that for our area, golf-ball size hail is the size that really causes the damage. Kurt is a dent expert and his company, Dent Medic, handles dings, dents and hail damage and determines how busy his day will be based on severe weather. In April, Frank Lopinto, manager of Salsbury Dodge and champion golfer, had quite a project for Kurt. More than 300 vehicles had hail damage from ping-pong size hail. Kurt believes it was a rare example caused not by the size but the strength of the wind.
