Researchers at Arizona State University believe that different phases of the moon have some effect on terrestrial weather. NASA notes that statistical analysis suggests a slight correlation to Earth’s weather conditions such as thunderstorms, air pressure changes, cloudiness and the concentration of ice crystals. Some data suggests that the Earth’s lower atmosphere is warmest during the full moon. Our tides are due to the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun and tonight’s full moon, rising at 7:13 p.m., is referred to as the Full Pink Moon. Native American tribes kept track of seasons by naming each recurring full moon. Incidentally, sunset this evening at 7:35 marks the beginning of Passover.
Fastcast: Warm and dry.
