The annual Baker-Zachary Relay for Life benefiting the American Cancer Society, memorializing cancer victims and honoring cancer survivors will be held from 5 p.m. to way past midnight Friday at Lane Regional Medical Center’s walking track.
A free dinner will be held at 6 p.m. for cancer survivors, and opening ceremonies will start at 7 p.m.
Other activities include a luminary ceremony, the final qualifying concert for Zachary’s Z-Fest singing competition and a balloon release.
Rodeo still on
Barring a drastic change in the flooding situation at Angola, the Louisiana State Penitentiary’s annual spring inmate rodeo and arts and crafts show will be held Saturday and Sunday.
The gates will open at 9 a.m. and the rodeos begin at 2 p.m.
Roses at Rosedown
Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site presents a seminar on antique roses led by horticulturist Patricia Aleshire from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
A lecture and walking tour of Rosedown’s gardens are planned.
Hot movie topic
The Audubon Regional Library offers a showing of the movie, “Fahrenheit 451,” at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Feliciana Baptist Church in Clinton.
The movie stars Oskar Werner and Julie Christie, and the Ray Bradbury book on which it is based was this year’s regional Book & Community selection.
The movie is free, and popcorn will be served.
Paint the town
The Feliciana Chapter of Louisiana Art and Artists Guild is holding a “Paint-In” on the grounds of the East Feliciana Parish Courthouse on May 3, the 10th anniversary of the Clinton Community Market’s founding.
The market starts at 8 a.m. Painters may set up free anywhere around the courthouse.
Anyone interested in
joining the Feliciana guild chapter is invited to a 5 p.m. meeting April 30 at McKnight’s Gallery in downtown Clinton.
