James Minton has been bureau chief for the Baker-Zachary-Felicianas Bureau since July 1988. While attending college in the 1960s, he wrote articles for his father's newspaper in Livingston Parish, and he was news editor of the Denham Springs-Livingston Parish News for almost 15 years.
A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and a U.S. Army veteran with Vietnam service, he lives in Denham Springs.
Veterans Day is Wednesday, but observances begin Sunday with programs in Baker and East Feliciana Parish.

Centenary State Historic Site in Jackson, the original home of Centenary College of Louisiana, will stage the third re-enactment Saturday and Sunday of an August 1863 skirmish between Confederate soldiers and Union troops who were in the area to recruit slaves to join the 12th Infantry Corps d’Afrique.
The East Feliciana Community Center group is hosting a “Bon Temps True Blood” costume gala from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at Wildflower Inn in Clinton to raise money to renovate the old Clinton High School for use as a community center.
