Sonya Kimbrell is a Mississippi Delta native. She graduated from Wingfield High School in Jackson, Mississippi and received a bachelor of arts and a master of arts from Mississippi State University. She's worked as a reporter and editor at several Mississippi dailies, including The Vicksburg Post, The Clarion-Ledger and The (Greenville) Delta-Democrat Times. She also worked for a natural health magazine in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Kimbrell covers military issues and general assignments for The Advocate.
